I’m no political expert, but as an average, ordinary, working Alberta mom, I can tell you I am following closely what our municipal, provincial and federal governments are up to. The COVID-19 response taught me that governing styles can impact the most personal aspects of our lives, like who we can and can’t have in our private homes, where our children play and attend school, and even how close we can stand to other people in public.
It’s clear that with the wrong leaders in place, we will ultimately be governed by “mandate.” No legislative discussions, no voting, no “educate the public and let them decide what’s best for themselves and their families.” No. It will be the leaders deciding what’s best, and we must comply or face brutal repercussions. Just listen to Rachel Notley’s idea to harass Albertans at their private homes for not being vaccinated, crazy!
So, why vote for Premier Danielle Smith in the May 2023 election?
1. Premier Smith is a highly articulate, clear communicator.
With years of experience on talk radio, a journalism background, and a history in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, Premier Smith has a strong command of the English language and can work diplomatically with others, like the federal government.
2. Premier Smith is against putting limits on Alberta’s energy production.
The Smith government favours a slow transition to more “green” energy while allowing Alberta to prosper and benefit in the meantime from traditional oil and gas production. A prosperous Alberta means more money for social programs that the NDP love so much. Guess what? The UCP loves social programs too! The UCP just has a more sustainable way of supporting those programs.
3. Premier Smith supports and celebrates local entrepreneurs.
With Premier Smith’s experience in the Alberta Enterprise Group and regular contact with local business leaders, she champions those working to create “green” energy solutions, like Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS). She knows that Alberta is home to a plethora of intelligent business owners and investors who can create innovative solutions to many of the problems we face related to the environment and ongoing energy needs, both locally and globally. She also knows that Alberta’s oil and gas production uses the cleanest and most ethical practices on the planet.
4. Premier Smith appeals to both urban and rural voters.
As an urban Albertan, I made the trek out to Stony Plain to hear Danielle speak to a packed room of about 300 people leading up to the UCP leadership election in 2022. She spoke about issues relevant to urban and rural voters alike, using plain language and speaking with respect for everyone present. She spoke again in Edmonton to a packed room of over 500. Premier Smith understands issues that affect all Albertans.
5. Premier Smith is poised, confident and implementing change now.
Since Premier Smith has been in power for the last few months, we can see that she has a “can do” attitude, gets things done, and implements change quickly. She dismantled the costly and ineffective Alberta Health Services (AHS) board, is increasing efficiencies in 911 response, is opening a new addiction recovery centre in Red Deer, and is making it easier to train more foreign nurses. In short, this woman is a rockstar!
Here is what she had to say in her interview with Jordan Peterson...clearly, she is resonating with people, just read the thousands of positive comments on the video! Over one million views!
Alberta, let’s get this done in May
Do what you must to ensure a Premier Smith win in the May 2023 provincial election—support the UCP, get a UCP membership (as I did, for the first time ever!), get involved, volunteer for the campaign, especially in key Edmonton and Calgary ridings. Spread the word, tell your NDP friends to just listen to Premier Smith speak...unedited, with no media filter, in one of her many long-form interviews, like this interview with Shaun Newman, or during a Government of Alberta press conference in its entirety, like this February 9 one. Believe me, they will be sold! I know, because I am an NDP convert!

Smith is a nutbag. 0% chance she gets my vote. We need to return to Klein/Lougheed conservatism.
